Tips for using this page
- Plan only the meals that need deciding. If breakfast is the same every day, delete that column and the remaining boxes get wider; many households print the page with a single Dinner column.
- Put the days in the order your week really runs. If you shop on Saturday, move Saturday to the top so the plan starts with a full fridge and ends with the leftovers.
- Fill in the nights you already know about first: the evening someone is out, the day you get home late. Then place the dishes that take time on the days that have it.
- The Use up first line at the bottom is for what is already in the fridge. Writing it down before choosing dishes makes it more likely to end up in one of them.
- Write the dish, not the recipe. A name and a page number or a link shortened to a few words is enough for the box, and the grocery list page holds the ingredients.
- Keep finished sheets for a month or two. A stack of past weeks is the easiest answer to not knowing what to cook.
Questions
Does the planner suggest meals or count calories?
No. The boxes are empty and the page gives no dietary advice. It is a place to write the meals you have chosen.
Can I add a column for snacks or packed lunches?
Yes. The meal columns are a list of up to four headings that you can rename, so Packed lunch, Snacks or Kids' tea all work.
Can I plan fewer than seven days?
Yes. Delete the days you do not need from the list, for example to plan weekday dinners only, and the rows that remain grow taller.
Is there a matching shopping list?
The grocery list page prints a list divided into store sections with a tick box per line. It is a separate sheet so you can take it with you.
