Tips for using this page
- Write an assignment down the moment it is set, with the due date, even if it is weeks away. The sheet is in the order work was given, and the Due column is what you scan each evening.
- Describe the task well enough that you could start it without the textbook open: Ch. 4 questions 1-12 instead of maths.
- Use the last column for a tick when the work is handed in, not when it is finished. Finished work left at home is a common way to lose marks, and the empty cell is the reminder.
- For coursework with stages, rename the columns to something like Module, Assignment, Draft by, Final due. The four headings are free text of up to 14 characters each.
- Twelve rows usually cover a school week. Set fourteen for a half term of larger assignments, or six if you write big and want tall rows.
- Keep the sheet at the front of a folder or taped inside a locker door. The line at the bottom is for test dates, so they are seen next to the homework that prepares for them.
Questions
Is it for school pupils or university students?
Both. The default headings suit school homework; renaming them to module, assignment and deadline turns it into a coursework tracker.
Can I have fewer than four columns?
Yes. Delete a heading from the list and the other columns share the width. Three columns leave more room for the task description.
Does it sort the assignments by due date?
No. It is a paper list in the order you write things down. Circle or highlight the next due date to make it stand out.
Why is the page landscape?
The wider page gives the task column enough room for a full description in handwriting, which a portrait page with four columns does not.
